This is by far the best paper out there for pastel and pastel pencils. It has a sanded surface but it is smooth to the touch, which makes it perfect for detailed pieces. It comes in multiple colors and sizes. I like to use the light grey it helps when placing my whites down first.
For my backgrounds and large areas I love to use Rembrandt. They are smooth and soft and very affordable.
Carbothellos are excellent pastel pencils and very affordable. I actually prefer them to the more expensive brands. The only down fall is there are only 60 colors so for more color options I use Faber Castell and Derwent Pastel Pencils.
Pan pastel are my secret to soft smooth backgrounds. They are the most amazing product I just can’t say enough about how great they are. They come in sets or individual pans. I also use Sofft Brand pastel tools to apply the Panpastels with.
Jackson’s art Supply has the best prices on all these products even though other companies offer free shipping your total order will still be less with Jackson’s.
